Solve for practice problem #1

The answer to this problem is a slope of 2.

Solve for practice problem #2

the answer to this problem is -3/2.

What is the entire equation for problem #2

The equation is y=-3/2x+1

Exponents

Exponents that are positive such as 5^3 is equivilant to 5*5*5. Exponents that are to the zero power allways equal 1 no matter what the base number is.ex) 500^0 = 1^0. For exponents that are negative like 2^-2 all that equals is 1 over 2^2 which is eual to 1/4 or .25.

Solving equations

You first need to balance all equations. So what you do on the right side of the equation you need to do on the left side of the equation. You also want to solve for any variable in the equation. Ex) 0=5x+8 Subtract 8 from both sides of the equation and then divide by 5 on each side to get x=8/5

Graphing equations

when graphing the y=mx+b formula B=the y interecpt and M= the slope of the graph. Always remember if the slope is a fraction use the rise over run formula. For example if the slope is 1/2 You go up 1 and over two. This formula works for negatives as well.

converting tables into a graph

  • First use the equation to make tyhe table.
  • You put in points for "x" to find out what the y value is.
  • After you get at least three different points graph them
  • After graphing them you can use the slope to graph the rest of the points
  • Now you have graphed a line
